The videos in this series are adapted from a PowerPoint presentation used to teach a course for university jazz majors. The timeline stretches from about 1900-1970 because that was the most I felt I could adequately cover in the time allotted for the in-person course.
This series is presented from the viewpoint of a jazz musician, not a historian (that is a disclaimer as much as a descriptor). The videos include many full-length clips so that you can get a deeper understanding of the music as well as the musicians who make it.
